so, having said that, how exactly is the new Karate Kid movie a KARATE Kid movie? WHAT THE FUCK??? they should have just named the new one Kung Fu Kid it would have made so much more sense and it would NOT have ruined some of my fondest youth movie going experiences.

There's an immigration problem in the U.S. Everyone and their mother's know that, but enacting legislation to legalize racism? that's your answer, Arizona? really? fuck. so, does this mean that if you have a problem with guns you'll legalize the sale of AK-47's and Uzi's and not only that but decide not to perform a background checks and wish your new customers a happy day and send them off with a complimentary box of ammunition and lollipops so that they can defend themselves against those who already have illegal guns?
Governor Brewer made the statement taht racism and racial profiling will not be tolerated when enforcing this new law. my question then becomes, how exactly are you kids planning to enforce said law if not with racial profiling? because, let's fucking face it, Yuri and Petra Kamilkov aren't gonna get pulled over here, not even if they're driving around with a sign that says, "Pull me over, I'm here illegally!"

Alice in WonderWhat?

I'll start on a high note: I enjoyed the movie. Yes, that's right; I enjoyed Tim Burton's vision of Alice in Wonderland. And before I continue with this review I think it's important for me to mention that I hit play on my iTunes right now and got "Don't Come Around Here No More" by Tom Petty, which, I think is fucking awesome.

But back on point. Now, my enjoyment of a Tim Burton film is nothing new. I pretty much wet my panties every time this cat comes out with something new. Shit, I even liked Planet of the fucking Apes. And let's face it, who the shit enjoyed that crap? And this movie had everything that makes Tim Burton awesome, a pasty-looking girl, amazing cinematography, a fucked up story, and Johnny Depp. But there was one thing that I feel it lacked: </3 HEART. Now, this wasn't the case through out the movie but let's take this shit in order.

The movie starts well enough with a young Alice having gone to Wonderland in her dreams and telling her father all about it. Her innocent look and the genuine fear in her eyes establish the first connection, the first time we want to root for Alice. Jump 13 years into the future and now we get a 19 year old Alice headed to a party and us discovering her father is dead. Brilliant. Only one problem, the girl playing Alice, or maybe that's how the character was written in this case, is affected by her father's death only in terms of how he would understand why she thinks about strange things all the time apparently. There seems to be no emotion in her; and I again reiterate, and maybe that's the way the character was written to be, zero emotion. And this is the major flaw that I felt in the movie.

When Edward Scissorhands begins we are confronted with a man and his son and how the man's death affects the emotionally stunted son. We care about Edward and his situation and we root for him. In Beetlejuice we feel Winona's character's angst and rebellion. Add to that our empathy for the dead couple and we get the "heart" that I'm talking about. Shit, even in Ed Wood we feel a connection with the main character despite his unwavering smile and plastic look. So why was it so hard to connect with Alice in this movie?

It's not until we get towards the end, when Alice is confronted face to face with the Jabberwocky, that we see the REAL conflict in her face, the REAL struggle she's going through and not just the lip service that seems to be being paid to it during the majority of the movie. And only after said confrontation does the gate of emotions from Alice seem to open, not that there's a wave of those emotions trying to break through, but you feel connected to her again. And this is sealed by her confrontation of everyone at the party she was attending; you finally root for her. Again.

Finally, did it really need to be in 3D? I understand they planned the 3Dness of this movie way before Avatar hit the theater, but sometimes it's just not necessary and that is the impression that I got from this movie. It felt like they were trying to force it on there. I know everyone says 3D is the future, and maybe they're right, but I don't think 3D should be what makes the movie going experience what it is. Yeah, that's all I have to say about that one.

Ok, now having been a douche and saying what I didn't like about the movie, here's what I did like:

Johnny Depp's Mad Hatter
Helena Bonham Carter's Red Queen
Anne Hathaway's White Queen
The Cheshire Cat, as voiced by Stephen Fry who is fucking awesome
Absolem, the Caterpillar, as voiced by Alan Rickman

And some other awesome things. Their characters and their interpretation of the characters were fucking fantastic. And, let's face it, any time the Cheshire Cat or Absolem are on screen, it makes for an awesome argument for the legalization of pot.

And the story, the concept, was great. I would have liked the movie to have gone about half an hour longer, and maybe that half an hour might have washed away some of my reservations, but the story in and of itself was great.

All in all I call it a good movie going experience, especially if you're a Burton fan. However, I wouldn't recommend the 3D showing of the movie.

15:25 – The day started off really busy and so I could see nothing that has been happening, but apparently in the last 3 hours shit has gone down. The first of which is Mark McGwire admitting to what we all already knew was true. It only took him a decade. In all honesty, I don’t much give a shit about this piece of news, why, because I never liked Mark McGwire to begin with. Couple that with my hate of the St. Louis Cardinals and you get giant pile of I-don’t-give-a-shit.

The second piece of news that I just read in the headline was the Pete Carroll has made his move to the Seahawks official. Or, actually, the Seahawks have made Pete Carroll’s move to their team official. Another piece of unsurprising news. That is to everyone else except the collective wail of an entire football program that fell for the, “I’m-not-looking-to-leave-this-place,” b.s. all college football coaches say right before they jump ship. So there you go.

15:31 – Oh, I forgot one more: Sarah Palin joining Fox News as an analyst. Is it obvious awards week or something and nobody told me???

16:07 – Its tax season in Guatemala and Uncle Quetzal is bending me over prepping me for the plowing of a century. Tax laws all over the world are arcane and fucked. They all have weird rules and regulations that make paying said taxes a bitch and a half. Take me for instance, this year I thought I was exempt because my base salary adds up to less than the minimum requirement for tax form declaration. Oh surprise when I got an e-mail last week stating that I need to present the documentation no later than this Friday. Needless to say I’ll be having a few sleepless nights up until this Friday.

11:59 – Another day with not much to say.

16:12 – So I’ve been on a metal binge lately. It had been many years since I’d felt the necessity for something like this, but lately it’s like I feel 15 again. I want to head-bang. I want to fling my elbows at strangers in a mosh-pit. It could be related to the fact that Metallica is coming to our little country for the first time. But I’ve got mixed feelings about that, still. I mean, it IS the Death Magnetic tour. A tour in support of an album the has Unforgiven III in it. Unfor-fucking-given III! But then I remember being a kid again and how much I dreamt of watching these guys live.

The question then becomes, can I sit through them playing “Death Magnetic” hoping they drop a few of the classics? Or do I not even bother?

Torn I tell you.

The other dilemma is how expensive it is. Anyone in the States reading this would say, “$72 isn’t bad. It’s more expensive here!” And they’d be right. But then again you mother fuckers earn in dollaz while we down here don’t. That’s a hella-lot of money. Regardless, I need to make up my mind by the end of the month; otherwise I doubt I’ll be able to get tickets.

Long live the feeling of being 15 again.

Yesterday I read in one of the local papers that Lindsay Lohan wants to plan a trip down here to perform aid work. Now, by my accounts that can only mean blowjob technique classes to local prostitutes as well as the proper way to handle a hypodermic needles in order to maximize the user's high and avoid injury; "…and remember, bitches, only share your needle if the LOOK like they don't have anything. Or if they really, really, really promise not to have anything." But I digress. As a support for this claim they cite her claims of having recently returned from India where she allegedly did aid work as well. And by allegedly I mean she didn't do shit. And she didn't do shit because she didn't go. Oops.

How desperate are we for some sort of publicity to get our local youth population pumped up that our local papers are not only believing the delusional claims of a druggie pseudo-celebrity of wanting to do charity work in the area but that they don't even take the time to fact-check whether or not she just made the shit up to sound sympathetic?

08:36 – YOU KNOW WHAT I HATE!!!??? The US teaching its kids that we live on two continents here on this side of the world, not one. That we have North America (one continent) and South America (second continent). You guys know how the rest of us in the world learn it? AS ONE FUCKING CONTINENT!!! There is one continent and the name is America, hence everyone's pissiness at people from the US calling themselves American. Of course they're American, we all are.

US arrogance is not new, it's the reason they became such a super-power. Their self confidence, their can-do attitude propelled them to the place they are now. The problem, though, is that they used to be educated, they used to know all the things the rest of us in the world know. Now, however, they don't even bother. And they wonder why people around the world hate them.

So there, it's one continent and its name is America. Oh, and while I'm on the subject, you kids might as well start converting to the metric system, I mean, even the fucking British, who invented your current system, have come around to the rest of the fucking world.

11:14 – Every time I watch one of the three Fast & Furious movies I get an uncontrollable impulse to drive fast and furiously. And by furiously I mean recklessly. I don't know why I can't control it, it just happens. Despite their weak plotlines, subpar acting (I'm looking at you Paul Walker, not so much you, Vin Diesel considering I like most of your movies), and the stale and cliché dialogue I can't control myself.

By now you should be scratching your heads thinking, Did he say one of the THREE movies? My answer is yes, I did say one of the THREE movies. I refuse to count and/or consider 2 Fast & 2 Furious, or how I like to call it, Faster & Furiouser, part of the franchise. I am completely convinced that Eva Mendes' sole purpose in acting should be limited to standing around and looking Latin, which, for some reason is the equivalent to super-hot in gringo. I say this because her only good movies are Training Day, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, and We Own the Night, and only because she's reduced to either lying in bed naked post getting plowed by Denzel Washington or secondary roles that were lifted by the likes of Johnny Depp and Joaquin Phoenix (as bat-shit crazy as he might be) and could have been performed by a chimp. Did I just call Eva Mendes a chimp? I leave that to you.

08:47 – I think I broke my insides this past weekend.

11:10 – My hangover/organ failure is making me feel like shit and awesome at the same time. I wonder how that works exactly?

12:32 – I'm not big on religion. You won't hear me talk about God or Jesus or Mary or Allah or Yaweh or whatever. But I do believe in giving thanks. I personally believe in God, Jesus and the Virgin Mary. I do not lack in faith, I lack in faith in the Catholic Church. But this is not about that, this is about giving thanks for a good year. I have a job that I love. And even though I don't make much money I make enough to be happy. I'm happy. When was the last time any of us stopped to consider that? It took me less than 5 minutes and for that I'm thankful.

16:18 – The boredom continues. Alas, not much that can be done about that. It's the time of the year. And in my dept. we're pretty much done with the years' labors.

Based on that, I'm listening to "So Far" by Buckcherry.

16:34 – OK, so I'm not a James Cameron fan. It's not that I don't like his movies, I do. Who the shit can argue with The Terminator, Aliens, Terminator 2 and The Abyss? Exactly. But the awesome power that you get when you combine all those movies doesn't even come close to the gigantic cluster-fuck that was Titanic. I get it, Leonardo DiCaprio is dreamy in it, Kate Winslet is heavenly, and who doesn't want to be a four billion year-old, decrepit, old bag on a ship having hot-flashes and rubbing herself while telling her one-true-love story to the crew of the ship you are on while they look on with a combination of horror and amazed-horror? And in Bill Paxton's case horniness; did you see that guy's face while she was telling the story? It was like he was about to shove his pecker down her denture-less mouth.

But I digress. It took one movie about a boat that sank and that I already knew was going to sink before the movie came out to kill my fandom in James Cameron.

Avatar came out this past weekend. I DID NOT GO to the mid-night premier. Sacrilegious in movie-geekdom, but can you really blame me? He hasn't directed a fiction movie since that piece of shit, how can I tell he's redeemed himself with this one? Sure, I've heard rave reviews and people say that the special effects are out of this world (sorry, I couldn't help it), but I also heard that about Titanic and that made me want to die. To die a horrible, horrible death. Horrible. Death. And to avoid shitting just on Cameron I'll include Spiderman 3 in here, too, though it wasn't so atrocious that it killed my completely platonic and very hetero love for Sam Raimi.

The point is, I'm going to go see it today and I'm hoping not to be totally disappointed. So here's to hoping James Cameron's penis has regenerated itself after it fell off due to mummification caused by fucking the old lady from Titanic.

08:23 – And so it is, the faith is beginning to be restored. I saw Avatar last night.

08:39 – It's a great movie. It has the potential of becoming Star Warsian. It has the perfect combination of appeal for kids and adults, fantasy and science fiction. As far as the special effects are concerned, they are amazing, I don't deny that, but they're not as natural looking as everyone said they were. The world did seem as natural as anything, but the Na'vi could still be seen as CG. I was amazed at the evolution of the expressions on the face. Especially when I think back to the last time I watched Final Fantasy: Advent Children. I loved the effects in that movie, Advent Children, but admittedly the facial expressions in it are completely lacking.

10:16 – The point is that the movie was good. And it's a good way to start me on my road to forgiving James Cameron for Titanic.

In their discussion, Simmons was talking about how there are way too many genres of music. I completely fucking agree. 10:10 – I've always wondered. And it comes up every time I watch a science fiction movie. When and if we ever colonize another planet or other planets, how are humans going to evolve differently?

Let's assume for a moment that all these planets have either been terra-formed or are very earth-like. Just because this is the way they are or have been made doesn't mean that they rotate at the same speed as Earth currently does, does it? Or that it spins on it's axis on a 24 hour cycle the way it does here. How long would the new years run for? Would we have longer days or shorter days? How would our brains adapt to these changes?

We assume that just because in sci-fi they're all human that their days and years and all that stuff is the same as those on Earth. But even if we tried to do that, how could we avoid basic evolutionary changes in humans based on the new conditions? Would we evolve into a completely new species divided by out planets?

Now consider that, too. Many people claim sightings of extra terrestrials. What if these aliens are the product of the same evolutionary process but with a different environment? What if the same seed of life was planted on many different planets and each single celled seed evolved differently and their planet's conditions allowed them to hyper-evolve their brains to allow inter-galactic travel? What if they see their evolution as natural and normal and we are the slow ones?

These are all the things I think of every time I pop in a sci-fi movie. Amen.

12:02 – 2,062 words. That's what I've got re-written so far in my story. Never thought I'd manage to get so much written down again. Not after so many years of not writing a single thing for it. And, honestly, I'm liking the way the new narrative is developing. It seems more serious than I'm used to, but it still feels natural. It still feels like I'm writing it.

12:41 – I MADE IT INTO OUR FANTASY LEAGUE PLAYOFFS!!! I was worried there. Only two of the four who ended with a 7 – 7 record made it and I was one of them. Now I have to start talking strategic trades with some people. Already made initial contact with a bunch of owners, have verbal contracts with them regarding some of their players. Let's see if they hold up on their end. I need a reliable RB and maybe, MAYBE a WR and a TE; that'll depend on the remaining schedule for those position players that I have there.

Many times I'll be listening to something and I think it's an awesome party song but when I get to a party and play it everyone just stares at me funnily. 09:18 – Start the week and start it right. Just like every Monday I'm not waking up until after noon.

10:36 – Need to mention, a bunch of months after it came out in the U.S. it finally came out here, Inglourious Basterds. And, I must point out, it was worth the wait. It was brilliant.

11:44 – So I've been playing ? Degrees to Hitler lately. More specifically, an average of once a day. I use the day's Feature Article. Today's feature article is on Talking Heads' "Remain in Light". I got to Hitler in four clicks. Boom.

12:21 – This is what I've reached to today: I'm reading about werewolves on Wikipedia. I know. Oh well.

14:59 – So apparently Tiger Woods has boned 9 women. And one of them a pornstar. I fail to see what the problem here is. Tiger is my hero!

15:25 – So, if there's something I hate is when commercials use songs for their chorus or something they say in it, but in reality has nothing to do with the product they're selling. I'm listening to "Take Me Away" by the Plain White T's and I was reminded of a commercial I've seen a lot on television. I have no idea if it's viewable in the U.S., but in Latin American programming it's kind of popular. It's an advert for Parker Pens. You know, the ones with the holder in the shape of an arrow.

Well, the idea of the commercial is that the pen's arrow can "take you away" on a trip; to new adventures. Do these fucking marketing consultants, or whatever, even listen to the songs they choose before hand? Do they even know what the "take me away" in the song implies?

I'd further elaborate, but I think I'd only get angrier if I continued.

15:37 – I'm copying some of my old stories to the computer HDD. The idea is that I can work on them now that we'll be "busy" for the holiday season.

Aka Kuro was basically written as a stream of consciousness. I wasn't really going anywhere with it. Heco was the first to notice that my style of writing was good for interpreting into comic book format. He's still a stickler for tradition but it's still easy to interpret for a visual genre. It paints a very specific picture without much detail. It helps keep the manuscripts short and to the point. If I could ever FINISH a fucking manuscript.

Elements was a more deliberate attempt at fantasy. But now after reading Lord of the Rings and Eragon it's kind of hard for me to imagine me getting anywhere past a juvenile fantasy world. That one could make a good comic along the lines of Battle Chasers. But my main artist is no longer available.

Finally I have The Kids Are Alright. That one is basically a venting of my day to day activities in high school and college. All of it infused with my sarcasm and lack of wit. It made fun to write about until I couldn't help my shift to seriousness. I hate it when I do that.

Point is I'm going to copy those onto the computer. I have until January to work on them and get them right.

15:54 – I was looking at the titles of my most advanced works. I really like the title for The Kids Are Alright, but I'm not sure about Aka Kuro; Elements I can live with. Aka Kuro was originally chosen because it was going to a film-noirish type of book, black and white with high-lights on red. In our case the equivalent of the "red dress" was going to be the red eyes of the A.I.'s that are emphasized in the book; most notably the main character. Oh, aka being the pronunciation for "red" in Japanese and kuro being the pronunciation for "black".

I almost want to say forget it. The more I repeat it in my head the more I'm falling in love with the title all over again. I mean, it is the mother from which we spun off the protoB.O.T.S.

16:53 – OK, bouncin' now. Have to go to the body shop and pick up the hubcap for my tire. The one they were pending to get me from the crash over a month ago. Late.

11:31 – Oddly good weekend. The en-double-g-zee's turkey was A-W-Awesome. Ate too much, but no worries there.

Saturday became a lazy day. Didn't know anything. Just watched Transformers 2 again. Surprisingly better the second time around. Doesn't take away from the fact it still sucks.

Finished the week with watching the Madrid @ Barça game. I got pretty buzzed and strangely lasted for a long time. But no complaints from my part.

11:49 – I downloaded the entire works of Edgar Allan Poe last night. It should keep me entertained on slow days since I'll be reading it on my computer and from afar will look like work. Hooray for laziness.

11:57 – You know what I hate? How freaking pop-clingy Maria José's music is. It would go great with this only replace "Pandora" with "iTunes" and "deeply embarrassing music" with "deeply embarrassing guilty pleasures".

12:14 – I just got a reminder of how big a douchebag I really am. I was told when the office Christmas party is going to be. For a long moment there I thought it fell on the same day as my 10 year High School reunion. I was happy because I thought I'd be able to use both events as an excuse to not go to either.

13:02 – 24 minutes and 16 seconds into "The Rite of Spring" by Igor Stravinsky. No extra comment, just wanted to mention it.

13:48 – Fast lunch. Shift managers aren't here to welcome the new hires hitting the floor today and they're all asking me who their sups are going to be. I need to find that shit out, where they keep that info, just in case it happens again.

16:04 – The day melted away. Between shit I actually had to do and a more effective way of wasting time I've managed to waste an entire day. It's almost time to bounce and prepare for MNF.

16:10 – I've probably mentioned this many times before, but it seems to be a recurring theme with me. That theme is my lack of ability to finish anything. Most notably shit I write. I get an idea and start scribbling shit down. But the minute I get to word 3 thousand or so my mind starts waning. I stop paying attention. I stop caring about the story. Anything longer than 3 thousand words is too much commitment for me and I can't seem to buckle down and settle with it.

I'm an absent father and the unfinished stories are my kids. Kids that will never grow up because I don't nurture them; because I don't care about them, not really, not after 3 thousand words.

Would this be what shrinks would call my inability to mature? I can't finish a story because keeping it in it's infancies is a way for me to keep from growing up? I have officially ventured into territory I really don't much give a shit about. Where I'm from they're not issues with maturity and growth, they're called "You're a lazy bastard." And I'm pretty sure that I am. A lazy bastard, that is.

I'll use the same excuse I use with girls; I just haven't found the one I have completely and totally fallen in love with. The one I want to finish.

16:20 – I like saying "trash bin". I was reading back what I wrote after I wrote it and I noticed my use of "trash bin". It sounds so much better than trashcan. Trash bin makes so much more sense. A bin is a receptacle. A can is receptacle made of aluminum or tin. Most trash bins are made of plastic now.

16:24 – I burn incense at night while I sleep. I've had a compulsion since I started that I can't fight any more and it's to collect and keep the ash from the burnt stick in a jar. I'd like to say I know the reason why, but I don't. It's just something I can't help myself to do. Speaking of jars, I just remembered I used to keep an empty frozen jar in my freezer up in the dirty souf. I drank beer out of it. It was rebellious and awesome. And it's only rebelliousness was the fact that no one else I know did it. It was hipsterish before hipster was douchey. Now I'm just a douche bag that drinks out a jar. I really hate hipsters.

16:36 – I watched Across the Universe over the weekend. I can't remember if already mentioned this and I'm too lazy to go back and check. I just wanted to say that I thought it was brilliant. I love, loooooooooove Evan Rachel Wood [must insert images here when I get home and edit this]. I remember watching thirteen a few years ago and feeling guilty. Now I don't. That's all I have to say.

17:09 – I feel weird. I don't feel myself. I feel detached and odd and not fitting in. I never really fit in here at work, but that felt natural before. Up until a few months ago I didn't have to interact with anyone else, now I do. But today, more than ever, I feel like I'm not all there. This is pissing me off.

13:12 – Feeling nauseous. Weak. Like I'm not myself. Good thing it's almost lunch time to replenish.

15:21 – I learned something new today. It might be something old to most people, but it was something new to me. I use Office 2003 at my work place. I'm not updated. Point is, I was playing around with tab hiding for a report I'm working on, the thing is that in the process of using this I discovered an option in that same field called "Background". Curious, as I never am, I decided to click on it. What I discovered was wondrous.

This discovery has now opened new doors of workability for me. Not that I'm going to include images in my reports from now on, but I might add an image to my reporting for fun while I'm working and taking the depression out of the situation.

This has made me happy.

16:49 – Today was a very sporadic day. I really didn't have much to say. I pretty much used fillers so that I would have an entry for this day. It's almost over and time to go home. I just want to lie in bed and read or take a nap. I'm really tired. I blame my Hooter's souvenir and the drinking. I'll take a break from drinking for the next couple of weeks.

And they want to do this shit in a year and a half? This smells of "victory". Steamy, stinky, manurey "victory". 10:16 – One of my teachers is applying to university. She's hoping to attend in the fall of 2010, which should help me out. Give me time to find someone else. She's a smart kid. She'll do well when she goes.

10:25 – She told me about one of her essay subjects. It sounded pretty cool:

12:11 – Normal people suck.

12:12 – So my dad told me what he wants for Christmas. So did my sister. I love how my family works. Only my mom likes to be surprised, which, I suppose is normal. But I'd much rather tell people what I want and have them tell me what they want. It's so much easier.

12:39 – I love the random on my iPod. I had it on there and then Tool came on. I, of course, was inspired. Now I'm listening to Ænima. Definitely a top 20 album, maybe even top 10.

12:43 – To outgrow.

We do outgrow most things. However, I find those things and people that we do not outgrow to be vastly more interesting.

A kid goes off to college. He grew up in a poor neighborhood. He grew up in a single-parent household. He struggled; his family struggled. He held a job from the time he was fourteen and ninety percent of his paycheck went to paying the house bills. Despite these things he maintained a good grade point average. He excelled in his SAT's and ACT's. He was a model student. This kid goes off to college.

His friends do not fare as well. One sells drugs to support his own drug habit. The other drinks too much and breaks into homes. They, too, grew up in a poor neighborhood. They, too, grew up in a single-parent household. They, too, struggled.

13:44 – Now, it is important to remember that this isn't an argument for or against nature and nurture and circumstances or lack there of. This, instead, is about how the kid who left for university and is a good student and a hard worker and a model citizen can come back and hang out with his old friends; the ones who didn't go to college and dealt drugs and went to jail and robbed.

The original dynamic states that you outgrow people, most notably those people have nothing in common with you. But why, then, do we cling so heartily to childhood friendships. Why do we protect them and defend them and, in some cases, justify them and excuse them?

I have little in common with my childhood friends. Of the three I consider to be my best friends one is rich, shallow, materialistic, ambitious and a doctor. The second is a bum, slow, care-free and has no profession. The last is hard working, serious, quiet, modest and finishing university now. Me, I'm lazy, procrastinating, creative and neurotic. They make no sense. Those combinations, I mean. But one can't help but wonder if precisely those differences aren't the ones that make us stick together. Do the combination of our flaws and strengths make us stick together? Is that the reason we cling to each other and do not outgrow ourselves?

We outgrow acquaintances and things and places because it is in our nature to evolve and change. As we grow and change so do our points of view and perspectives. And unless those things we hold dear or just hold grow and change with us then we shall be leaving them on the wayside of our lives. That is the reason why the phenomenon of never outgrowing friends intrigues me. With them it never matters how much you grow and change or how much they grow and change you will always come together despite your differences.

Admittedly there are contradictions to my argument. Cases where friendships ended and were never again mended. But then again, it could also be argued that those friendships grew apart not because of our or their personal growth but because of circumstances that forced the break. A friend sleeping with their significant others, violation is personal boundaries and/or codes, the ending of romantic relationships when the friends were involved. But never outgrowing or evolving away from it.

I know the question posed was not answered, but then again I really don't give much of a shit.

Despite all this, Jon Stewart is still the most trusted man in America. I wonder if Walter Cronkite is rolling over in his grave or is beaming with pride that "fake" news has more credibility than "real" news. I'm betting on the former.

11:39 – Proofing and editing complete. Lots of mistakes. Mostly in the use of verb tenses and arrangement of sentences. I didn't change anything else. I have this bad tendency to want to change things to the way I write them and say them so that they make more sense to me. So unless they're in a book I always want to re-write crap. It's a bit douchey of me.

11:44 – Two days ago a friend of mine sent me a message on messenger while I was offline. His big news, that he's getting married. He gave his girl the ring on Sunday or Monday, I don't remember the day he told me.

I'm happy for the dude, but this is starting to get out of hand. Guys I never thought would get married or if they did would do so later in life are hitching their wagons to slavery. First Eddy and now Migue. I just hope he's not doing this because he feels it's like the next step he has to take or something. But if the kid is happy then I'm happy for him.

Now he just has to have the wedding in Mexico so that I can go.

12:33 – This is how out of it I've been. I was going through my Google Reader feed and saw a digg story about Alyson Hannigan refusing to come back, even for a cameo, on a new Buffy movie that's being developed if Joss Whedon is not on board.

Ok so, THEY'RE DEVELOPING A NEW BUFFY MOVIE??? I remember I used to be a fan, seasons 1 through 4 were my time. I lost track after that, but not completely… I mean, I still knew what the crap was going on in the series. But a new movie? And one without Joss Whedon involved??? I swear this dude is like Phil Mickleson before he won a major. Just can't get a break (I miss you Firefly… I'll miss you Dollhouse, but not as much).

In this same story I read an assessment by Anthony Stewart Head that makes a lot, but a lot of sense, "Look it's no mystery why they're doing this. Vampires are hot and let's face it, Twilight is basically just a watered down Buffy rip-off so why not bring back the real deal and get rich. But I'm pretty sure nobody wants it. Not the fans, not the Buffy cast, and probably not Twilight fans who are too busy swooning over Edward to notice anything else."

15:00 – Metallica is coming to Guatemala. It is the first time a band and/or artist with that kind of name pull and that isn't Hispanic or Latin comes here. I stopped being a big Metallica supporter a long time ago. But it's still a big deal here. Big enough that the rumor here at work is that the tickets are already sold out. They went on sale today. It's probably the first time in history when the tickets to a concert happening here in Guatemala are sold out not just before the actual day of the event, but on the same day they go on sale.

My friend, Harold, couldn't believe they would have so many fans here. It perplexed me that he would wonder about that. I mean, they still are the equivalent of U2 for metal, even if we don't see it that way. That is almost verbatim what I told him. He proceeded to argue that they sold out. Not the concert but as artists, musicians.

This argument raised an interesting point. Isn't that what all artists, be them musicians or painters or writers, want? To sell out? You can cite a plethora of artists who claim not to have done so, but isn't the mere fact that they are charging you to hear them play a sell out?

I want you all to bear with me while I write all this venting down because I'm not going to follow any sort of rational order and it might seem like I'm jumping all over the place. And even though I know this is a running diary that I don't plan to post until Friday afternoon/Monday morning, my plan is not to come back and proof it, so what I write is what you get.

Having said that, there are many artists who claim artistic integrity; they accuse bands like Metallica and U2 of selling out. They accuse them of being frauds and losing sight of what they had originally intended to do. I've always thought that this argument is sour grapes. They're bands and artists that haven't been or weren't able to sell out themselves. There are maybe a handful of artists who actually, truly do it just for the music. But those are few and far between. Most of them just want to sell records and get famous and get laid.

No aging band reflects this more than the one we're talking about now, Metallica. They built a fan base and a reputation on the backs of fans and bootlegs. Kids who snuck in recorders to their concerts back in the day and passed tapes around, shared their music. Now they're the champions of the anti-piracy movement on the interwebs, effectively destroying the very first massive file sharing site.

Example number "b". Lily Allen. Every old example needs a new one to reflect the repetition of mistakes. This girl, who makes good music, has good songs, built a name through social networks, exclusively Myspace. She recorded demos and uploaded them and let anyone who wanted download them and share them. Until she got famous and started selling albums. Suddenly file sharing becomes a burden on the artists back. A pilfering of their bank accounts because people are doing exactly what they've always done with their music, downloaded it and shared it.

This is the very definition of the selling out argument. Those who don't sell out and mock those who do wax intellectual on the virtues of giving their music away and only caring about the art. Those who do sell out bitch and whine that the marketing tool they used to become popular to begin with is now biting them in the ass.

I could go on forever on this. I could go back and proof it and re-write and make this better and longer. But it's part of a running diary post. One that started at 3pm and is now 3:22pm. So I'll stop now before running the danger of sounding preachy and douchey. Oh, crap, too late. I already sound preachy here and I sounded douchey about three posts ago.

I’ve always found it hard to imagine anyone sitting down and remembering their lives to write a memoir. I don’t think that that’s what I’m doing right now; mostly because I don’t plan on remembering much. Not that I could, anyways. I’m pretty sure I’ve killed all brain cells pertaining to ages 15 and under.

No, I suppose this is where I make a comment on something happening in the media or in popular culture. As of this date it would probably involve the premier of the new Twilight movie or health care reform. As of the time that anybody reads this it might be something else.

November is almost over. November, 2009, you know, for posterity. Almost the beginning of what radio DJ’s in GT call the prettiest month of the year. If you ask me, it’s about as pretty Rihanna being punched in the face. Traffic all over. Stores so packed you can barely walk around. Crime rates going up. Hunger. Disease. Oh, wait, that’s all year round. So basically the prettiest month of the year is the same as the rest of us uggo ones.

So it’s TG week. And by TG I mean Thanksgiving. I live in Guatemala and my family is celebrating Thanksgiving. It’s important for me to point out that we’re not American. That’s on Thursday. On Friday, other friends have decided they want to do TG dinner, also. I’m celebrating TG twice. The only good thing? Double servings of turkey and all the awesome shit we do with it.

17:15 – It’s a different day today. The day after the day I started writing this thing. I suppose you could call it a running diary, but it’s not. I’m not time stamping it. Not until now. I don’t’ know at what time I started writing this but I’m going back to the beginning of this paragraph and putting the time right now to commemorate the beginning of this running diary. I’m also going to go to the beginning of the page and post yesterday’s date which is when I started writing. The idea is that I’m going to keep running with this until I get tired and then I’ll upload it to the interwebs.

17:17 – I find my change in office, or rather my move from an office to not an office boring. This is going to sound arrogant but I have a knack for finishing my work fast. This was brilliant when I had my office because I could waste the rest of my time with watching shows on my computer or reading in peace. Now I’m in what is known here as the “fishbowl”. Everyone can see what I’m doing. This running diary is the closest thing to wasting time while looking like I’m working as I’m going to get.

17:20 – “Love Me or Hate Me” by Lady Sovereign just started. I’m going to wait for it to end and then I’m shutting down and going home. Late bitches.

09:08 – I find it fun to listen to Keith Olbermann in the morning. It makes me happy.

09:18 – I just had an awesome childhood flashback. I even had it as a hand-held game, those that used to be really popular when you couldn’t afford a gameboy. I lost it somewhere. I never found it. And my parents never found out I lost it. It was a rather stressful school vacation, though, worried they’d find out. I want those days back when all I need to worry about is having my parents find out I lost a toy somewhere.

09:57 – Sometimes I feel incomplete. And by that I mean like I never finish anything. I get an idea, I start writing it, I stop a few words into it. I wait until I get another one. It’s sad. It’s sad and it makes me wonder how long this experiment will go before I decide to stop and post it. If I can hold out for the rest of the week then it’s already a victory.

11:21 – Bored and tired. Want the day to be over so I can go get me my Photoshop installed. Same with my video editor. It’s going to be epic.

11:30 – At this moment I’m hating two things. One of them is twitter. It pisses me off. The second one is not being able to use

11:52 – I’m trying to use my google wave shit. I don’t get it. It’s giving me a headache. My friend tells me it’s a great tool. I tell him I like my computer gadgets help me waste time not make me more efficient. This just makes me want the day to end earlier.

12:41 – It sucks when you stop to wonder what the shit you’re doing with your life. Especially when you think you’ve got shit figured out. You think you’ve got shit figured out and then the seed of doubt is planted. And it can be anything from seeing someone your same age’s success to a particularly gloomy or bright day. Something triggered it in me. Might be the song I’m listening to right now. It’s “Legs” by PJ Harvey by the way, in case anyone was wondering. It is a bit of a depressing song.

It’s most likely the fact that the holiday season is approaching. I kind of fucking hate the holidays. I love the food, but I hate the fakeness. Fake feelings run rampant during the holidays, especially in families. Especially in families that don’t have much to do with each other, they don’t even have to hate each other.

I thought it’d be worth mentioning that it took me six minutes to write that train of thought.

12:50 – I’m trying to decide what playlist to listen to that is not one that I am slowly building with a friend. I don’t want it to be that one because otherwise I’m gonna burn those songs and I don’t want to, they’re really good.

14:48 – There’s something about PJ Harvey’s “Snake” that I really like. I don’t know if it’s the biblical mentionings or the fact that it’s just raw and awesome.

15:25 – The time stamp tells you what time it is and I want to shoot myself. I’m tired and I want to go home. I have absolutely nothing to do.

16:48 – Just wanted to mention that I’m currently listening to “Hooker With a Penis” by Tool. It is pretty safe to say that it is one of my most favoritist songs of all time. Maybe even top 10. Definitely top 20.

16:54 – I have also noticed that I pause to reflect and consider the fact that I make words up in order to better express what I’m trying to say. I’ll use an example from the previous time-stamp; I used the word “favoritist” to describe a song. I’ve also noticed that I love doing this and it makes me feel good. The internet ruined spelling and writing in general but it has also freed us to expand and create new words and meanings. Thank you interwebs. Thank you for ruining 12 years of English grammar and spelling.

17:00 – I love tea. It brings peace to me. It keeps me from punching through someone’s face. Especially since most people I’ve met here deserve a punch through the face. Thankfully it’s none of the people I share a workspace with.

08:53 – I’m reading The Lord of the Rings. I never read it before. It’s geek sacrilege. I tried once when I was around 14 or so. It was before I got into reading. It felt too slow. So I never really got into it then. But lately I’ve been feeling Geelkty. I needed to read it, I have to. It’s a moral imperative. I think Val Kilmer said that in Real Genius. I love that movie. But I digress. I finished Fellowship of the Ring last week. Just started The Two Towers. I’m trying to think what to continue with. I’m missing the last two Dune books to finish that saga, but I’m in no hurry there. I might start the Isaac Asimov books, though, I’m not completely sure.

10:59 – So just as I was promised yesterday, today has been a very peaceful day as far as craziness is concerned here in the center. Not many calls. However, I’ve been warned about tomorrow shit-hit-fan stuff.

15:28 – So it’s become pretty much accepted that Twilight is like porn for girls. Not only that, I’m pretty sure we can all agree on the fact that Twi… you know what, I’ll just start calling it “The-series-that-shall-not-be-named”. Hmm, that’s a mouthful. Point is, I’m pretty sure we can all agree on the fact that The-series-that-shall-not-be-named has ruined vampires for ever.

I can still remember being awake late one night when I was barely 12 or 13 and watching Keanu Reeves act shittily, yet again, and Gary Oldman scare the shit out of me; of watching that same year a shit black and white movie with a bug-eyed, bald vampire Noferatu and almost crapping my pants.

I remember Anne Rice evolving them into seductive but still scary as balls. But now, now The-series-that-shall-not-be-named has turned them into glittering fagtards.

15:40 – On a semi-related note… I’ve always wondered about something in immortality. Forget the watching your loved ones die off while you’re still around. Forget that part. Let’s say you are an immortal nazi. And let’s say it’s 200 years later, how exactly does this immortal nazi get over his prejudices? You watch all these movies where you have immortal beings and the main immortals always have upstanding morals and ethics. They’re politically correct, they’re not racists, they are what we all aspire to be. 08:37 – In a very I-can’t-think-of-a-come-back-now-but-wait-till-I-can moment, Turkey Day 2: Revenge of the Poultry is working itself out today. Hoping it’s going to be good.

09:07 – And if it’s not I’ll just get drunk. Either way it’s a win.

09:09 – It’s “Black Friday” today. I hated “Black Friday” when I lived in the states. It was impossible to do anything. Let alone go to Walmart to do your regular fucking shopping (I spent a day without pooping once because I couldn’t get into the store to buy TP). But BF doesn’t exist here. And in this case BF doesn’t mean boyfriend or best friend; it means Black Friday, in the same way that BFF will be used for Black Fucking Friday. Try to keep up with the acronyms.

Point is it doesn’t exist here. And it’s brilliant. On a related note, I wanted to point out the uselessness of Cyber Monday; the “ceremonial kick-off of the holiday online shopping season.” I used the quotations to make it look official and shit, but it’s really just a quote I got from the Wikipedia entry for Cyber Monday. Getting back to the uselessness, most retailers now have online shopping and in those websites where you can do your online shopping all their in-store savings and deals are also available. So basically, it’s still BF, its still BFF.

Moments like these are the ones where I wish I had a PS3 so that I could go on a virtual shooting rampage. I guess I’ll just have to settle with drinking. A lot.

10:32 – I don’t want to cry victory yet, but so far so good with the tests. If we continue this way I might even be able to leave early enough to make me some cornbread.

11:59 – Someone here just quoted the Bene Gesserit Litany Against Fear. I’ve never met anyone other than my cousin that can do that. It is easily one of my favorite parts in the entire Dune Saga. With that I’ll post it here:

12:27 – Ah, hockey. I love it. Found that the Devils were playing early today. This is making work today bearable.

12:57 – The delivery truck approached the gate. It wasn’t open so the driver honked once.

Twice.

But it didn’t really sound like “honk”.

The security guard crept his head through the gate and signaled the driver to go away. But to no avail. The driver jumped out of his cab and started walking to the security guard. The guard’s eyes widened and kept telling the driver to go away, but the driver kept going towards the gate.

Then it happened, an arm came around the head of the security guard and fired a shot straight into the driver’s eye. And just as quickly as it had appeared it disappeared. No time to position the shot. We were told to hold. Now a person is dead.

13:03 – We had gotten an anonymous tip about hostages in a local factory. SWAT snipers were deployed and snipers were set. But they weren’t allowed to engage without prior authorization.

The whole deal went down in a matter of seconds and nobody had gotten dead. Not until now. The neighbors heard and now we can hear the sirens coming. This was going to turn into a circus.

I hate using that simile, but it works. The idea was to try to get positioned well enough to take the hostage takers out without having law enforcement interference. That shit just went out the window.

13:11 – There was a shopping mall across the street from the factory and office space on the top floor. They allowed us to take over two of their offices and cut holes into the windows to stick our sniper rifles through. It was an optimum place. The windows were tinted and the sun was hitting it just right to blind whoever looked up. We were still cutting the windows when the shot rang out. We weren’t fast enough and we weren’t ready. This was our fault.

13:18 – A fleet of about 13 cop cars showed up. They’re covering the street and we can hear more coming in. My team still doesn’t know if they know we’re here. Their lights are blazing and they’re drawing attention. This just became, pardon another cliché, a shit-storm.

So I was surfing the interwebs when I ran into a question on Yahoo! answers. “Why is soccer the most played sport around the World?” My first thought, of course, was why in the shit is the word “world” capitalized. My second thought was, however, nothing. I paused. I began to wonder, why IS football the most played sport around the world? And for the purposes of this post “soccer” will be replaced by “football” because it’s a sport you play with your feet and a ball and you know that pesky logic shit always gets me. So why is football the most played sport around the world? I suppose that if I were to be completely honest with myself I’d have to say I don’t know. One argument is that it’s cheap, all you need is a ball. Makes sense. Draw a few lines in the sand/dirt/grass/concrete/pavement; get yourself a sphere-like thing-a-magig and you’re set. It’s not like American Football where you need padding and a special ball and a large area; not to mention that I still have no idea why its called “football” when the kicking part only happens when you run out of options. It’s not like hockey where you need skates (unless you’re playing field hockey and you don’t need them, but the protective pads, yeah the protective pads). Though, I suppose you can make the same argument for baseball or cricket. All you’d need to do is add a few sticks to either sport and you’re done. No special equipment.

Others argue that it brings people together. Well, that argument seems flawed considering any major and popular team sport does the same. In fact they all do so a lot more than most Olympic sports where the individual’s performance is what determines the country’s level of skill. So no, I doubt it’s that it brings people together.

How about that it inspires? I like that reason more than any. It inspires. For better or for worse it inspires feelings in us no movie or play or song or poem can. But ultimately that argument is purely speculative and based on opinion. I can only speak for myself, but when I watch my flag wave, my national anthem play I get goose-pimples every time. Every. Single. Time. No exception. I can’t sit down to watch a game, either. I might start watching it in my seat but before I know it I’m on my feet and I’m talking to myself pretending the players can hear me. I fall into superstitious nonsense. I shave my head/beard/arms/legs/other parts in hopes of cleansing any bad karma I might be carrying there because EVERYONE knows karma is carried in hair. Many Boston Red Sox fans might read this and think, “Dude, that was what my life was before they finally won the World Series.” I’m not arguing to the contrary. Each and every one of whom pulls their very own way and feel the same way I do and in some cases follow even stranger and creepier superstitious patterns.

Football reaches everywhere. Every fucking where. Why? I really don’t know, I’ve shared my opinion, but ultimately I don’t know. It defies logic. If indoctrination and colonization would be to blame our punk-asses would be smacking a wood ball with a flat bat instead of kicking leather. But we’re not.

If money was the case then everyone would want to play US sports. Not to mention the sponsorship nightmare that it is. –What do you mean there are no commercial breaks? Wait a second, NO TIME OUTS??? – Yep, that’s right, no commercial breaks or time outs ‘cause that’s how the rest of us Worlds role.

Alas, the true reason escapes me and I may never know it, all I know is why I love it. And that’s because it makes me feel like my first everything every time.

I remember there was a time when douches were neatly tucked away in their frat houses and upturned collars where they date raped within their comfort zone and so long as you stayed outside that comfort zone you wouldn’t have to run into them. Animal Rights Groups. These fucking people seem to forget that eating animal flesh is probably one of the reasons their ancestors survived long enough to reproduce and thus allow their spawn to reproduce and so on and so forth allowing them to turn into the douchedy douches they are. It’s not bad enough that they don’t eat meat, something that doesn’t affect me personally and so I keep it to myself, but they get in my face and call me a murderer because I do? Listen, fuck-ohs, I don’t tell you what to eat so refrain from telling me. They argue for the sanctity of living creatures? Last time I checked a plant was also a living creature. The worst part is these jagoffs are the most vocal pro-choice fuck-tards in the world. You’d think with all that sanctity and preciousness of life shit they spout they’d be staunch pro-lifers. I’m pro-choice, by they by.

All in all these people do a lot of good work when it comes to the conservation of animals on the endangered species list, but when it comes to dictating what I put in my body they’re wasting their fucking time and they should mind their own fucking shit. Don’t attempt to tell me about the pain an animal feels when it’s being killed to feed me until you acknowledge the pain a plant probably feels, too. Just because it doesn’t have a vocal cord to make noise doesn’t mean it probably doesn’t feel pain.

On a different note, this would be a hilarious comic and yes my mommy does kill animals, not only for the fur for her coat that keeps her warm, but TO FEED US!!!

You know what I hate?

Fucking Creationists. I’m not going to pretend I’m not biased here because I kind of am. I haven’t precisely lost my faith but I don’t go to church either. What pisses me off about these jerk-offs, though, is that they complain about having school systems impose their “scientific beliefs” on them when they don’t want to take part in them. In turn, however, they want to impose their creationist beliefs on the rest of the world. How exactly does this make sense? It’s the equivalent of the U.S. invading Iraq in search of weapons of mass destruction and then switching the message to that of freedom and democracy. Did they ask for that shit? No, they didn’t, the Bush administration found it was in their best interest.

Another good example of this is the family who’s refusing chemotherapy for their child because it goes against their religious beliefs. I say that if these people want to kill their kid it’s their business, none of ours, let them the fuck alone.

The same concept applies to this subject. The science in this case has been proven to be fact so that’s what will be taught, you don’t agree pull the little failed abortions out of school and let the rest of the world learn what has been programmed. Don’t, DO NOT try to impose your beliefs on those that don’t agree with you. We already have a colourful human history filled with stories of the shit that happens when douches like those try to do things like that.

In conclusion, I really fucking hate creationists.

Harold Von Ahn. Now, this doesn’t mean I actually hate him. For the last, oh, I don’t know, I think it’s six or seven years now we’ve had a running joke with Harold about how much I hate him. It all stemmed out from the original “You know what I hate?” list. He was one of the few people who would be online whenever I wanted to complain about something and those complaints often began with a, “You know what I hate?”
As a result of this the running gag always started like that and once, prompted by the question, “What do you hate today?”, a natural response of, “you” came out. Since then he has been the subject of my hate.

People who write down personal messages in the personal messages section of social-networking sites and/or instant messaging services. So, yeah, the hating is kind of long, but still, I hate that shit. “Thanks for the best 10 years of my life, baby!” Gaaaagh! It makes me want to punch a wall in the face. The worst part is I’m guilty of this sort of thing every once in a while. It’s usually limited to sporting event results, but still, I’m sharing my personal feelings. Just thinking about it is giving me goose pimples of hate. “There’s nothing truer than our love forever.” WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT EVEN MEAN??? (I do the all CAPS to show that I’m screaming). There’s really not much more I can elaborate on this one other than:

You know what I love?
Burger King. Even with the controversy surrounding the denial of global warming by a couple of the Memphis stores I still love Burger King. I think my love for BK is in direct relation with my hate of McDonald’s. I would elaborate on that but this is the love portion of the post so I’m gonna continue with my love of the Whopper and all its variations: Whopper, Jr.; Texas Whopper; Angry Whopper; and many other Whoppers that have come and gone. I don’t know if it’s the fact that I can have it my way or their unapologetic stance on the fattening of America. Yes, we make high calorie food with loads of fat, do you still want one? BRILLIANT! Add to that the creepiness of the King and that giant, smiling head and they almost have to add heart-disease disclaimers at the beginning of each commercial. Heart-disease that in most likeliness they caused.

Ok, let’s try this again. What I’ll be doing now is some sweet you know what I hates. One per post. So, since I started my list of things I hate, I’ll start with the first thing I was hating the moment I started writing down the list.

You know what I hate?
CSI: Miami. Listen, I know there are fans of this shit out there, fuck, I was a fan of this shit the first couple of seasons when Rory Cochrane was still on there. He always reminds me of Empire Records, in my top 5 movies from the 90’s. Point is, once his character was gone from the series they decided to turn that shit into a crappy Minority Report tech wielding piece of shizzat (does it sound douchy when I say crap like “shizzat”?) where they have impossible technological equipment and computers and David Caruso doesn’t seem able to keep his head straight while taking off his sunglasses and spitting out cheesy one-liners that not even, I don’t even know who can deliver cheesy one-liners while making it sound serious like this guy is obviously trying to do. Add to that major cheese acting on the part of the rest of the cast and you have yourself a B-Movie spread over twenty-some-odd episodes that have managed to convince ppl that it’s brilliant and watchable.
I fucking hate CSI: Miami.

And in keeping with the spirit of the post I’m also gonna share some love.

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I really do. Creamy, gooey, chunky peanut butter on one side; fruity, sticky, yummy jelly on the other, both coming together in the perfect amalgamation of taste and texture. 13:25 – Champagne Supernova – Oasis. Oasis always reminds me of high school in the states. It’s the one thing me and my friends had in common that never waivered. Usually people change as time passes, Oasis has been the one constant thing between those kids and me.
13:34 – So I’ve started a one man campaign to dethrone Chuck Norris from his stupid list and replace him with Danny Trejo. You might have noticed from some previous posts that I’m including a “Danny Trejo Fact,” at the end of every post. The idea is to get people hooked and start doing the same. I’ve got some friends exited about it, but trying to get me and my people to do anything is about as easy as trying to stuff a fire extinguisher up a virgin’s butt-hole… which I hear is not easy at all. This was all inspired by a song on Plastilina Mosh’s new album that just happens to go by the name of Danny Trejo. It exalts the virtues of the “Machete” and I want the rest of the world to share in them. Oh, and Don’t Look Back in Anger – Oasis is playing right now.

The only playlists I have to build now are the shits that the thing won’t do automatically or the custom ones like my “Guitar Hero: World Tour” playlist, my “deviantlyPLAYABLE” playlist and my “rocs en español” playlist –the “rocs en español” being the one that’s the hardest because the fucking iTunes doesn’t make a comprehensive playlist for songs in Spanish– Do You Want To – Franz Ferdinand. So, instead of dealing with one or two tracks that don’t make sense in the playlist, I’m dealing with the entire fucking playlist. But, yeah, that’s my only complaint.

14:45 – I wrote this to a friend who’s been going through a tough time lately, “i'm not gonna say shit happens for a reason cause i don't know, but i can say that i like tacos, do you like tacos, too?” Nobody ever accused me of being a great motivator, only a semi-funny guy who happens to like tacos.
14:55 – Ooh, almost tea time! It’s kind of scary how exited I get about tea time. The worst part is that it’s not even really tea time, but it’s the time I let the kids leave for break so that’s when I make my tea.

Fuck, dude, my fucking ear hurts like a bastard son of the devil. Wait, do bastard sons of the devil hurt? I don’t know, but I suppose that abstract descriptions like those beat hyperbole. Wait, now that just brings up a bunch of other fucked up questions now. Well, not fucked up, but does saying something like “hurts like a bastard son of the devil” count as hyperbole? You know what, fuck you, I love hyperbole, I think hyperbole is the greatest, most awesomest thing in the whole entire world. Yeah, that’s right. What?
So… yeah, my ear hurts like a, well, like a bastard son of the devil and I just want to punch it in the throat. That’s right; I want to punch the throat of my pain. Pain should have throats so that we could all punch them in… them? Oh, and speaking of bastard sons of the devil, Reaper is back on! But what I heard is that the schedule change they gave them, starting in early March as opposed to late March, is like a series killer. If that’s the case then it explains the one and only episode I’ve seen from the new season seeming twenty billion times cheaper looking than last season’s… I’m calling it a gem.

I give you the Last two Amigos Invisibles concerts I went to as well as the Café Tacvba one about 3 weeks ago, I left those concerts thinking, Wow, that was so much better than what I thought it was gonna be like. While this concert I left thinking, Wow, that was exactly what I had expected. There’s nothing wrong with that, I just feel it kind of falls short of past experiences. Ok, I’ve gotta go poo now. I have whispered... "No."
Listen, I get it. “Who watches the Watchmen?” I’z do. I loved it. I thought it was a great experience. But I also understand all those people who left the theater scratching their heads and in some cases saying they didn’t like it. I get it. My own experience with my friends was me spending about an hour to two before the movie explaining what the novel is about and then spending another hour or two after the movie explaining what happened and why some things didn’t seem to make sense.
I really do believe this is a fan boy movie as best as it could have been done without it turning into Lord of the Rings. So, yeah, that’s all I have to say about that.
Oh, yeah, I will say this, the soundtrack? That’s the one thing nobody can argue with me about, it was brilliant! So was the casting, except for Silk Spectre II. I know she’s supposed to be fresh-looking, naïve, green in her “sheltered” life. Only really being exposed to bad guys and fighting but not to living, but come on, they couldn’t find a better actress that looks just as hot? Nothing against her, but there’s a reason she’s got cameo and supporting roles in movies like Harold & Kumar and The Heartbreak Kid. Having said that I admit I have no idea who would have been a good replacement. When the biggest names on the marquee are Billy Crudup and Carla Gugino, you know Snyder was going low-key on who the actors were so I have no clue who could have played her. But that’s really my only complaint and a meek one at that because, well, I'm really only grasping at straws with this one, I just really wanted something derogatory to say about it. Great, now i feel like an asshole.
Whatever, my suggestion is, pick up the book and read it before going. Believe me, if as a stand alone I thought each of them was great, as a tandem the experience is that much better.

P.S.: I actually like Malin Akerman's acting, but I feel she is best suited for a comedic role like the ones I mentioned in Harold & Kumar and The Heartbreak Kid. I thought she was brilliant in both of them. I really, really do.

Hate makes my world go round.
I've been looking for shit to complain about and I think I finally have something. PERSONAL-FUCKING-SPACE! I'm not one of those ass-holes who need their space and are always putting distance between themselves and others but if I'm in the supermarket queue I can't stand mother-fuckers who get too close! Today I had a lady behind me in the queue while I was waiting for the man in front of me to finish paying so that I could move forward. I had my single box of tea and she had her single packet of light bulbs and we had the entirety of the conveyor belt. THEN WHY THE FUCK DID SHE GET SO CLOSE THAT SHE NEEDED TO BE TOUCHING ELBOWS WITH ME??? The entire fucking conveyor belt and this is what I'm getting. Jesus fucking Christ, and don't worry, I'm already going to hell.
The worst part is that it's not even the first time it's happened. It happens every single fucking time I go to the supermarket. Every fucking time! Why the shit! Call me crazy but every time this happens I really feel like taking the first blunt object in reach and bashing it over their heads while screaming, “There is an entire fucking conveyor you can place your fucking merchandize on! Why the fuck are you sliding up to ME?” How sad is it that I actually think those words? It’s like a bad script running through my head.
So yeah, personal space is what’s aggravating me these days. Not Alex Rodriguez, not the stimulus package, not my boredom; personal-fucking-space.
Hmm… you know what I hate? People who write down personal messages in the personal messages section of social-networking sites like Facebook or Myspace, as well as on instant messaging services like Windows Messenger or Google Talk. I don’t care if you’ve been married one year or 63, keep that shit to yourself. I could care less if you’re eating a philly cheese-steak sandwich or booger diving. This hate comes from no where. There is nothing wrong with those who enjoy this. Only my desire to smack them upside the head.
You know what else I hate? Saying “upside the head” when you mean behind the head. I’m guilty of this fault as seen in the last sentence of the previous paragraph.
You know what I hate? Clowns. I’m not afraid of them, I just don’t like them. That big, red nose is like a target for my fist.
You know something else that I hate? People that talk to me for no reason what so ever. Ironically I feel offended every time some unknown person doesn’t strike up a casual conversation with me.
You know what I hate? PDA. I hate it when others are engaged in it, but don’t mind it terribly if it’s me.
Something else that I hate: Goku taking 40 episodes to shoot a Kamehameha in Dragon Ball-Z. I mean, really, what the fuck?

Floating through, that’s what it has been feeling like lately. I’d ask the question, “Have you ever felt like you’re floating through life?” But you only ask that question when something happens once in a while, not every other day. That’s what my days have been feeling like. Every-so-often I stop to think about my presence here, about my body on this “plain of existence” I suppose I’d call it? And it’s always the same, when driving: it’s like the cars outside my car aren’t really there; as though if I were to hit the accelerator I would be able to go through everything. When walking: I won’t say it’s like floating, because it’s not, but I won’t say it’s precisely like walking either. I’m pretty sure someone writing a book or a short story would describe this as walking through molasses if the story took place in the old south (or, maybe, even the recent south). When sitting down in front of something: it would almost be like an out-of-body experience. There but not really there. Even now, two minutes ago, as I was starting to write this it was as though I was watching myself from somewhere inside of me write this.

The song playing in my iPod right now is “Un Mundo Mejor” by La Oreja de Van Gogh.

A friend of mine wrote a lsit of 25 random things about her. She made me want to write one, too. Here it is:

1. i love classical music even though i have no clue what the names of the pieces are except for a handful.
2. 70% of the correct answers i get on jeopardy i'm guessing.
3. i, too, love the princess bride. "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." is one my favorite quotes of all times. (the same is true for Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Constantine, Snatch, Love Actually, Dazed & Confused, Gladiator, 2001, A Clockwork Orange, The Shining, The Godfather [all three], and a bunch of other movies... jajajajajajajaja)
4. My guiltiest of guilty pleasures were the mexican soap Catalina y Sebastian on TV Azteca and Everwood on the WB.
5. I hate The Picture of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde.
6. i secretly love Kabah and Belinda.
7. The Adventures of Pete & Pete was my favorite TV programme when i was a kid.
8. clowns don't freak me out, i just don't like them... every time i see one i want to punch it in the nose.

10. sometimes, and by sometimes i mean all the time, i love being as unproductive as humanly possible.
11. i still watch cartoons on saturday mornings. usually The Grimm Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Ben 10, or Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.
12. i hate people who talk to me.
13. i hate people who don't talk to me.
14. when i see someone i haven't seen in ages and they tell me how wonderful they're doing i want to punch them in the face, regardless of how well i'm doing in life.
15. marriage and people who get married freak me out. i just don't understand it. i can't imagine myself ever getting married. the whole concept freaks the shit out of me, almost literally.
16. the fact that most of my friends haven't gotten married is a comfort.
17. i'm addicted to Guitar Hero World Tour.
18. i hate when i see others engaged in PDA, but don't mind it terribly when it's me.
19. The extent of the conversations i have with most my friends are usually reduced to movie quotes. more alarming (at least i'm told) i don't find that to be weird at all.
20. i hate prescription drugs. regardless of how much i ask for a percocet, i'm really only kidding.
21. i looooooooooooove to read web-comics (my favorites are Penny Arcade, PVP, Questionable Content, Garfield Minus Garfield, Apple Geeks, Able & Baker, and xkcd)

23. i wanted to be a scientist when i grew up. i think i still have some 50 years to manage that.

I’ve been trying to figure out the reason for these feelings of detachment. I don’t know when they started so I don’t know what the root of them might be. I sometimes think they’re related to the mass growing at my side. I have a mass of something under my skin on my right-hand side. I hate going to doctors so I rely on vaguely describing the thing to my doctor friends. One of them said it might be a lymphoma, whatever that might mean. I told him I’d go to the doctor sometime after my cousin’s wedding. I hate doctors.

It used to hurt a lot before. Not a sharp, stinging pain but rather a long, dull one, one that you can ignore if you really want to. That’s always the worst kind because you never really realize something is wrong until it’s too late. It still hurts now, but it’s not that bad. It hurts when I push down on it, but that’s it. I think that’s as much as I’m going to mention about the aborted baby-tumor I have growing under my skin on my right-hand side that hurts when I push it down.

The next random song is a cover of Juan Luis Guerra’s “Ojala Que Llueva Café en el Campo” by Café Tacvba. If you’ve noticed the trend by now it’s that I’m randomming it under the “Rock en Español” Genre.

I’m going to go see Café Tacvba later this month. It should be freaking awesome. I’ve never seen them live before and from second-hand accounts I hear they’re really cool. They’re on my see-before-I-die list. Hopefully I won’t die before February 25^th.

“Inspiración” by Benny just started playing. This one was the title track for a movie a friend worked on in Mexico. It’s a cheesy, corny, feel-good, romantic comedy. Needless to say it did well in Mexican box offices. The song always makes me want to slit my writs. And it’s not inspirational at all. Not unless you want to be inspired to take your own life. Regardless of this brutal assessment I still have it in my iPod. I suspect that says more about me than it does the song.

In a refreshing twist a cover of the Clash’s “I Fought the Law” by Mano Negra just started. I can feel my testicles falling back into place. I’m happy. It’s a really short cover.

An initial abdominal x-ray revealed a most unexpected diagnosis: intestinal obstruction from dozens of hashish-packed condoms. This case introduced the medical establishment to the illegal practice of “body packing.” By employing people to ingest sometimes upward of a hundred cocaine- or heroin-filled latex balloons, , drug traffickers utilized the intestinal tract to smuggle illicit substances past border security.
Body packers, it appears, have taken their own course in gastrointestinal physiology and have learned to manipulate the digestive tract for their benefit. These criminals use their knowledge of the gastro-colic reflex, a physiological condition in which the presence of food in the stomach triggers a rapid upsurge in intestinal contractions, and often go days without eating in order to avoid premature expulsion of their valuable contraband. To further shut down gastrointestinal motility, smugglers use medicines such as loperamide (Imodium), which are typically prescribed for patients plagued with severe diarrhea.
While bowel obstructions occurs on occasion, the most feared complication of body packing is balloon rupture. Balloon rupture results in a rapid release of lethal doses of cocaine or herin into the GI tract. This catastrophic complication has bgeen known to result in shock and, in severe cases, death. Once smugglers are apprehended, these packets are easily detected with an abdominal x-ray. “Treatment” is with laxatives (and close bathroom supervision!) to expedite the natural passage of these illicit goods.
